Little 4 year old promised me she won’t grow up yesterday. I know she can’t keep that but I’ll enjoy the ride.
I have a 4 year old girl too. Last of 6 kids. She is my little shadow. She goes with me everywhere I go. I don’t want her growing older. I want her to be my little girl forever.
My daughter who we adopted when she turned 18, she is my cousins granddaughter she came to live with us at 17, she about to be 23, she told me when adoption was official and she took my last name her one day husband would have to change his last to hers or she would keep my last name. I chuckled knowing that would change, i said ok pumpkin, i wont be upset if you take his. She now engaged to be married in april, she told me she is going to get my last name tattooed in my handwriting, and said i may be changing my last name but ill have yours with me forever. She was my shadow also until she met her fiance, that was a bit of a change, but as i told her. I knew the day would come and i would have to let her fly, just didnt expect it that soon.
We hear so often how dads want a son, but truly the most amazing gift is a father who gets to experience having an amazing daughter who wants to do everything with their daddy.

I wish I had this from my dad. My dad always had a strange way of showing love and once I turned 18 and moved in with my now husband he grew very distant and his way of showing love was with money. Then my daughter came and he transitioned his money “love” to her. Now I’m non existent to him. I still love him but I know it’ll never be returned the same 💔
